Tragic Shooting at Church Wake Claims Life and Shakes Community in London

A shooting outside a church wake in London claimed the life of 44-year-old Michelle Sadio amid gang violence, leading to multiple arrests, including a murder charge.

A somber event turned tragic on December 14, 2024, when gunfire erupted outside the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church in Harlesden, Brent.

The gathering was a wake to celebrate the life of Dianne Boatong, who had recently passed away.

Michelle Sadio, a 44-year-old woman, was the unfortunate victim of this senseless violence.

Details of the Incident

Around 9:30 p.m., chaos ensued as a dark-colored Kia approached Gifford Road.

A shooter opened fire on the crowd, endangering both adults and children, including some as young as five.

Michelle was fatally injured in the incident.

Kenneth Amoa suffered a gunshot wound to the back, while Kadeem Francis sustained injuries to his foot.

Investigation and Arrests

Authorities suspect that this act of violence is connected to an ongoing feud between rival gangs known as HA9 and Church Road Soldiers.

In the aftermath, police apprehended 18-year-old Tahjin Sommersal.

He faces serious charges, including murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger lives.

Sommersal made his first appearance at the Old Bailey on January 15, 2025, where he was remanded to custody.

His next court date is anticipated for April 2, with a trial set for October.

Alongside him, five other men, aged 18 to 33, have also been arrested as part of this ongoing investigation.

Community Impact

The impact of Michelle’s death has rippled through her family and friends, leaving them in a state of shock.

Her husband expressed disbelief and sorrow, decrying the increasing disregard for life in society.

A close friend shared heartfelt memories, emphasizing Michelle’s dedication to her children and her aspiration to provide them with happiness—a future she tragically will not see.
